Bio / CV

Michael Rohrbaugh’s work engages viewers by way of the gut, the heart, and the head. Harnessing media as tool for change, his team’s latest PSA champions global gay rights and helps drive donations to The Russia Freedom Fund, a charity supporting Russia’s LGBT community. Released online two days before The Sochi Winter Olympics, the piece quickly went viral, receiving over 1 million views and 5,000+ comments. Worldwide press included The Huffington Post,  Luerzer’s Archive, RT, The Advocate, and PolicyMic.

Combining his passion for film and teaching, Rohrbaugh spent part of 2013 living in Kenya, leading workshops on behalf of Y-Fi Africa, a non-profit inspiring the next generation of African filmmakers. Outside the social justice arena, he commands a decade of experience working as an editor/writer/producer with clients ranging from Viacom to Sony to NBCUniversal.

Rohrbaugh received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his Master’s in Fine Arts from The UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. His award winning short, The Perfect Gentleman, played at festivals across the country, including The Newport Beach Film Festival and The Rochester International Film Festival.

Rohrbaugh is currently developing a dramatic feature set during the final days of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He is represented for television and theatrical directing by Angelina Chen at Energy Entertainment.
